Event Manager provides you with the power and productivity to optimize
even the largest SQL Server enterprises quickly and easily. When nightly
backup jobs contend for SAN, NAS or other network resources, causing IO
performance problems or errors, grab the visual power of the Event
Manager "shared resource view".
For example, you can easily create a custom calendar listing all
of your server backup jobs across the entire enterprise that write
to the same SAN or NAS, and eliminate any contention you see with
just a few clicks! Event Manager even ships with several pre-configured
sample views for various compressed backup systems to make getting started
a breeze, including Quest LiteSpeed, Idera SQLsafe, and Red-Gate
SQL Backup.

How Does the Shared Resource View Work?
The events which have scheduling conflicts will automatically
show up on the shared resource calendar view with an orange background.
From here, you simply drag-and-drop future event instances within the
calendar to eliminate the scheduling conflicts and reduce or
eliminate any associated contention. As you drag-and-drop
event instances to open slots on the calendar, Event Manager changes the backgrounds to white, denoting “no conflicts”.
When all events in your Event Manager shared resource view have a
white background, you know you have a “leveled” schedule. A leveled
schedule ensures that any bottlenecks and associated errors are minimized.
