Alert Clients Directly - Reduce DBA Support Burden
SQL Sentry Event Manager can easily be configured to notify your hosting clients directly on the status of their SQL Server Agent jobs, Windows Tasks, DTS packages, Reporting Services reports, and more – over 75 different status conditions in all. The alerts carry granular info about each event, and can be easily customized for each server or job with specific recovery steps or escalation procedures. Clients are directly informed of the status of their own events, greatly reducing the burden on the DBA Support team.
Response and Recovery Automation
In addition to sending email or pager notifications for over 90 status conditions, a variety of automated response actions can be taken. The Execute Job, Execute SQL, and Execute Process actions can be tied to any status condition trigger, enabling SQL Sentry Event Manager to go beyond basic alerting and provide full automated recovery for common issues. These actions can also be valuable in integrating with other third party monitoring applications.
Powerful Event Chaining
Event Manager's advanced chaining features enable you to quickly and easily define dependencies and workflows involving SQL Agent jobs and Windows Tasks to meet your customer’s business critical needs. Event Manager keeps a complete history of all events across the hosting enterprise for as long as you desire - you’re not subject to the notoriously low history retention settings of each SQL Server Agent or Windows Task Scheduler. So when a client (or auditor) asks you for the status of a critical ETL job from 2 months ago, you’ll have the information you need.
Push Reports to Clients
Leveraging the power and flexibility of SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services, SQL Sentry Event Manager reports can easily be published to any SSRS instance where subscriptions can be created for each client. Reports include Current Failures, Management Summary info, and more.
Custom Event Views
Create customized views of activity for any client server, group of servers, or events that provide a level of insight never before possible! For example, you can quickly create a calendar of the backups across all client servers that write to the same SAN or NAS device, and easily level the backup activity via drag-and-drop to minimize load on backup device and the network. You can track replication or log shipping jobs separately for each client, and quickly see how jobs across multiple servers interact with each other and sometimes cause contention, performance problems and failures. These are just basic examples – with custom views, if you can think of it, you can create a calendar for it.
