Remote DBA Services Providers
Event Manager takes the “remote” out of remote DBA services. Regardless
of how you connect to the client site, with Event Manager you can be assured
greater visibility into any SQL Server environment in addition to
reliable and detailed notifications. This leads to more proactive,
dependable, and professional SQL Server management services, and less DBA
resources required to manage the environment. To receive more

Installation option
Persistent Connection
In a Remote DBA
environment where multiple client sites are managed via persistent
connectivity such as a VPN tunnels over the Internet or point-to-point
connections, the optimal installation involves Event Manager Consoles on
each DBA workstation connected to a common Event Manager database on the
same LAN.
One or more Event Manager Server services are installed at each client
site configured to only watch the servers at that site. Assuming there
is not a trust relationship between the remote site and the DBA
monitoring location, pass-through authentication may be used to allow
the Event Manager Server service in each site to communicate with the
Event Manager database.

Installation option
On-demand Connectivity
When non-persistent, on-demand connectivity to a client site is used,
you can quickly and easily setup a “disconnected” Event Manager installation
with the Console, Server service, and database at each client site. All
Event Manager components can be placed on the same machine, and the remote DBA connects to each
Event Manager installation by Terminal Services or Citrix over a secure VPN. Each installation is configured to monitor
only servers in that location, and will alert the remote DBA team and/or
clients to any issues as appropriate.
